Privacy Policy
INTELLIGENCE has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Everything you do in it is stored on your own device. The one thing that can leave your device is a written answer you ask to have graded — and only after you have said yes.
Who this is
INTELLIGENCE is an app made and operated by Tom Oliver (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the iOS app and the web version at intelligence-self.vercel.app.
What stays on your device
All of the following is stored only on your device, and we never receive it:
- Your training history, scores, progress and the state of your brain visual.
- Your daily reviews, thought records and anything else you write that is not sent for AI grading.
- Your reminder times and settings.
- Any backup file you choose to export. It is saved where you put it, and goes nowhere else.
Deleting the app deletes all of it. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete or hand over.
AI feedback — the one thing that leaves your device
Some exercises ask for a written answer. If you switch on AI feedback, then when you submit one of those answers the app sends:
- the text of your answer, and
- the exercise it belongs to (the question, its target word or topic, and its reference notes).
It goes to our server, which passes it to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model. Claude grades the answer and sends back a short note, which the app shows you. Nothing identifying you — no name, email, account or device identifier — is included.
We do not store your answers. Our server forwards the request and returns the reply; it keeps no copy of either. Anthropic processes the text as our service provider under its commercial terms. Under those terms it is not used to train Anthropic’s models, and it is deleted within 30 days (or kept longer only if Anthropic’s safety systems flag it as breaking their usage policy). See Anthropic’s privacy policy.
This is your choice. The app asks before anything is sent. If you say no, nothing is sent and your answers are checked on your device with simpler rules. You can change your mind at any time in Settings → AI Feedback. Please don’t put sensitive personal information in an answer you send for grading.
Server logs
Our server is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, it processes your IP address and basic request details (time, path, status) to deliver the service, to limit how often the grading service can be called, and to protect against abuse. These logs do not include what you wrote, and we do not use them to identify or profile anyone.
Notifications and motion
Reminders are scheduled on your device by the app itself. They are not push notifications and involve no server. The app reads your phone’s motion sensors only to tilt the Reading Room cards as you move; that data is used in the moment and never stored or sent.
What we don’t do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics or usage tracking.
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone, beyond the AI grading described above.
- No tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
Children
INTELLIGENCE is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is normally nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you have a question about this policy or believe we hold something about you, contact us and we will answer.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. If the app ever starts sending anything new off your device, it will ask first.
